Liverpool will reportedly not be investigated by the EFL over 40 false-positive coronavirus results recorded last week, which forced their semi-final to be postponed.

The EFL have reportedly got no intention to investigate Liverpool after the club revealed that they had recorded a number of false-positive coronavirus results.

Liverpool's first-leg FA Cup semi-final tie against Arsenal, to be played this Thursday, was postponed last week due to the Reds being unable to field a team for the fixture.

It is believed that Liverpool conducted a second round of PCR tests and it was the results from this batch of testing that concluded the results from the first round of PCR tests contained a number of false positives, as many as 40 players and staff.

The outbreak caused the club to close its training ground and now the Daily Mail reports that the EFL will not investigate Liverpool as they confirm that the evidence submitted by the club was sufficient, and the correct process was adhered to.

The EFL has advised players to travel to matches in their own cars where possible to minimise the risk of infection, while the original second-leg tie at Anfield will now become the first leg on Thursday, for the final match-up between Jurgen Klopp's side and Arsenal to be played at the Emirates next week.

Liverpool are looking to win the League Cup for the first time since 2012, when they defeated Cardiff City at Wembley on penalties.
