Gomez believes that attack will prove to be the best form of defence for Liverpool when they take on Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has insisted that his side will not change their style of play for next week's Champions League return fixture against Roma.

The Reds head to the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night with a 5-2 lead to protect following a superb attacking display in the first leg.

Roma have already overturned a three-goal deficit against Barcelona in this season's competition, however, and they have not conceded in their last five home games in Europe.

Gomez does not believe that sitting back is the right approach to take, though, telling reporters: "We've shown this season our best form of defence is attack, so we'll probably just do that again.

"Obviously we will be wary they have their threats and the two goals they scored will keep us on our toes. We will be defensively aware.

"I don't think we can go there and afford to just sit off and try to defend the whole game because that will bring pressure and that's not the type of football we play.

"We want to go there on the front foot and try to add to the goals."

Liverpool have scored more goals than any other side in this season's Champions League, finding the back of the net 38 times.
