Charlton Athletic takeover deal on hold?

Charlton Athletic reportedly hang fire on their takeover deal to establish which division the club will be in next season.

Charlton Athletic's proposed takeover deal has reportedly been placed on hold until the end of the season.

Owner Roland Duchatelet is keen to hold fire to establish which division the club will be in next season before finalising the sale, according to Sky Sports News.

Charlton are currently in the running for promotion to the Championship, lying in sixth place in League One, inside the playoff places by three points.

Club director Richard Murray previously assured fans that a takeover was likely to go through in February, with a price having been agreed with two separate parties.

However, the terms of the agreement are said to have changed and the price will depend on whether the club is playing Championship football next term.
