Charlton Athletic director: 'Price agreed for possible takeover'

Charlton Athletic director Richard Murray announces that owner Roland Duchatelet has agreed a price with two interested parties for the sale of the League One club.

Charlton Athletic have moved a step closer to a change of ownership after club director Richard Murray confirmed that a price has been agreed with two interested parties.

Addicks supporters have arranged countless protests to drive out current owner Roland Duchatelet, who has openly admitted in the past that he intends to sell the League One outfit.

There is hope among fans that a deal could now be concluded in the coming weeks, as Duchatelet has reached an agreement regarding Charlton's value and will now begin advanced talks over the sale.

Speaking to Athletic's official website, Murray said: "Although the takeover has not yet been completed, the good news is the terms of the deal, including the price, have now been agreed between the parties and we are now just waiting for their respective lawyers to finalise the sale and purchase agreement.

"You can never tell how long lawyers will take but I've been informed it should be within the next few weeks. Once the new ownership has been legally achieved, we will inform everyone via our official channels."

Charlton are seventh in the table, two points off the playoffs with 13 games of the season remaining.
