Norwich City inform Leeds United that they must pay £5m if they want to re-sign their former captain Jonny Howson, according to reports.

Norwich City have reportedly told Leeds United that they must pay £5m if they want to re-sign Jonny Howson.

The Whites academy graduate made over 200 appearances for Leeds but left for the Canaries for around £2m in January 2012 when the East Anglians were in the Premier League.

It has been reported that the midfielder has rejected a contract extension at Carrow Road as he wants to return to Yorkshire with his young family.

According to The Mirror, Norwich are prepared to sell Howson, who has two years left on his current contract, but Leeds have been informed that they will have to pay £5m if they want him back.

Howson became United's youngest captain since Billy Bremner as a 19-year-old in April 2009, and led the Whites to automatic promotion from League One the following season.
