Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi places Italy as "favourites" for Monday night's Euro 2016 last-16 clash between the Azzurri and Spain.

Fiorentina striker Giuseppe Rossi has claimed that Italy are the "favourites" in Monday night's Euro 2016 last-16 clash between the Azzurri and Spain.

Rossi is an Italian international of 30 caps, but has not represented his national team since 2014 after struggling with injury over the last couple of seasons.

The 29-year-old has played in Spain for both Villarreal and Levante, however, and is therefore seen as a good judge ahead of Monday's fixture at the Stade de France.

"Italy look very good to me. I see them as favourites against Spain. It will be difficult but I have great confidence in them. They are playing a great tournament and all have wanted to win and show their talent. That's what they're doing," AS quotes Rossi as saying.

Italy and Spain have clashed on 34 occasions in international football and both have recorded 10 wins.
