League One roundup: Gillingham hold on at top

Sports Mole rounds up Saturday afternoon's action as Gillingham remain in first place in League One after winning 2-1 against Blackpool.

Gillingham remain top of League One thanks to a 2-1 victory against lowly Blackpool.

Captain Doug Loft gave Justin Edinburgh's side the lead midway through the first half but the Seasiders' levelled just after half time with Ryan Jackson heading Brad Potts's cross into his own goal.

However, Bradley Dack's sixth goal of the season ensured the win that sees the Gills remain in first place.

Mangerless Peterborough United earned a 5-1 victory at Oldham Athletic after Souleymane Coulibaly and Lee Angol each notched doubles.

Angol gave his side the lead with a close range tap-in before the midfielder cut the ball back for Erhun Oztumer to finish into the top corner via a deflection.

Rhys Murphy brought Oldham back in the game but 20-year-old Coulibaly scored twice before Angol grabbed his second for a comfortable win.

Chesterfield were denied victory by Colchester United despite being reduced to 10 men after 15 minutes.

Drew Talbot's red card didn't stop the Spireites scoring, with Danny Jones, Lee Novak and Sam Morsy eventually being cancelled out by Gavin Massey, George Moncur and a Charlie Raglan own goal saw the match finish 3-3.

Barnsley came from behind to hammer Swindon Town 4-1 at home with defender Lewin Nyatanga scoring for both sides.

Goals from Marley Watkins, Connor Hourihane and a stunner from Reece Wabara added to a Nyatanga goal and an own goal from the Welshman.

Port Vale left it late to win 3-2 against Wigan Athletic with Uche Ikpeazu scoring in added time.

Goals from Anthony Grant and Louis Dodds gave the Vale a 2-0 lead before Chris McCann and Leon Barnett pulled things level.

Barnett was sent off minutes later before the Watford loanee Ikpeazu stole the three points.

Bury took all the three points at Bramall Lane after beating Sheffield United 3-1.

The Shakers went ahead thanks to a Tom Pope strike but a Billy Sharp penalty pegged them back with 20 minutes remaining.

However, goals from Joe Riley and Leon Clarke late on saw David Flitcroft's men rise to ninth.

Aiden O'Brien grabbed a hat-trick for Millwall to help his side earn a 3-1 win away to Crewe Alexandra despite Lauri Dalla Valle netting a lucky consolation goal after Brad Inman's strike deflected off the forward.

Fleetwood Town scored early against Bradford City via a Jimmy Ryan free-kick that was freakishly caught in the wind but were pegged back by a James Hanson goal as the game finished 1-1.

Walsall are just a point behind the leaders after a late Tom Bradshaw double goal gave them the win against managerless Doncaster Rovers and a Nathaniel Knight-Percival header gave Shrewsbury Town a 1-0 away from home against Southend United.

Coventry slip to fourth after a Paddy Madden goal saw Scunthorpe United win 1-0 against the Sky Blues whilst Burton Albion go above them in third thanks to a Stuart Beavon goal that earned them a 1-0 win against Rochdale.
