Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal "hope" to complete the signing of Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi soon.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last couple of weeks and it is believed that the Germany international has already agreed personal terms with the Gunners.

According to the Evening Standard, Wenger told French TV station SFR Sport: "Mustafi? We hope it will be done. He is one of a number of players we are looking at. Negotiations are ongoing."

Arsenal are in the midst of a defensive crisis, with Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker both injured.
