The Detroit Lions lead the Oakland Raiders 9-0 at the break in their NFL clash after keeping the visitors' offense in check during the first half.

The Detroit Lions have held the Oakland Raiders in check in the first half of their NFL clash to take a 9-0 lead into the break.

The Lions drove downfield on their first possession as quarterback Matthew Stafford fired a series of short completions to his wideouts to reach the five-yard line, but the Raiders held the home side out of the endzone to force a 29-yard field goal from Matt Prater.

Jim Caldwell's men stifled the visitors' offense and were able to take the ball back to drive down the field. However, their troubles near the goalline continued as they failed to notch a touchdown, which brought Prater to send another kick through the posts.

Oakland tried to get a score on the board, but Derek Carr and his offense failed to move the ball due to the quality of the Lions' defensive play, which shut them out in the first half.

There was time just before the half for Stafford to lead the Lions into field-goal range again, and Prater converted his third kick of the match to put his side in control at Ford Field.
