Victoria Azarenka continues her fine recent form with a straight-sets victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova in the final of the Miami Open.

Victoria Azarenka has continued her recent good form by picking up the Miami Open title courtesy of a 6-3 6-2 victory over Svetlana Kuznetsova this evening.

The Belarusian, who has been dogged by injuries in recent years, continued her rise back up the rankings by following up her Indian Wells triumph with a second consecutive title.

The 13th seed got off to a perfect start with breaks at the first two times of asking to race into a 3-0 lead in the opening set, but she was having trouble on her own serve too.

Indeed, there was only one hold by either player in the first set, with that coming in the second game as break after break eventually resulted in Azarenka winning the opener 6-3.

Normalcy was resumed in the second set as both players began to protect their own serve more effectively, with the first break point not arriving until the fourth game.

It went the way of Azarenka, and she took it in a love game to gain control of the match before holding her own serve to move into a 4-1 lead.

Kuznetsova was able to stave off two more break points in the next game to prevent Azarenka from serving for the match, but it was only a temporary reprieve as Azarenka broke at the next opportunity to wrap up the second set 6-2 and clinch the championship.
