Georgia record their first-ever victory over Wales with a famous and historic 13-12 triumph in Cardiff.

Georgia have made history with their first-ever victory over Wales, running out 13-12 winners at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff this afternoon.

Luka Matkava kicked over the winning penalty in the 77th minute to clinch a famous win for the tier-two nation as they punished a lethargic performance from the out-of-sorts hosts.

Wales had gone into half time with a 12-3 advantage, thanks mostly to Jac Morgan's two tries, but they failed to score a single point in a limp and uninspiring second-half display.

That was encapsulated by the scrum which led to the match-winning penalty, as Georgia dominated Wales to earn a shot at goal which Matkava took brilliantly.

Wales had two tries chalked off during the match, with Josh Adams denied in the first half and Morgan seeing what would have been a hat-trick try disallowed in the second half.

However, they could have few complaints when Georgia earned another penalty in the dying embers of the contest, allowing them to kick the ball out and rubber-stamp a historic triumph - their first in four previous meetings with Wales.

Alexander Todua scored Georgia's only try of the game in the second half, collecting an inch-perfect kick to go over while Alex Cuthbert was in the sin-bin, helping his country to a second victory over a tier-one nation this year following their win over Italy in the summer.

The result will go down as one of the worst results in Welsh rugby history, while it will enhance Georgia's claims that they deserve to be considered for inclusion in the Six Nations.

The two sides will do battle again in the pool stage of the World Cup next year.
