The 32-5 win sees the Sharks move to within two points of the Gallagher Premiership top four.

Discarded England wing Denny Solomona scored one of Sale's six tries as the Sharks moved to within two points of the Gallagher Premiership top four following a comfortable 32-5 triumph over 14-man Leicester.

Steve Diamond's men were poor in the first half, even though they went into the interval 10-5 ahead thanks to Bryn Evans and Solomona efforts, but improved after the break.

The Tigers had opened the scoring at the AJ Bell Stadium through Facundo Gigena's try but without their England players they struggled and the frustration got to Sione Kalamafoni, who was red carded in the 56th minute for connecting with the head of Josh Beaumont.

Valery Morozov had already extended Sale's buffer in the second period and Beaumont, Faf De Klerk and a penalty try made sure of the full five points after Kalamafoni's sending off.

Leicester have a number of players away on international duty and they were forced into another reshuffle after George Worth picked up an injury in the warm-up.

Sam Aspland-Robinson took his position at centre with Jordan Olowofela coming onto the wing and it initially proved to be an astute change with the latter creating the opening score of the match.

Sale were caught short on their right-hand side and the visitors brilliantly exploited the space as Olowofela weaved his way towards the try-line. Although he was tackled just short, Gigena was on hand to charge across the whitewash and give them the lead.

The hosts did not help themselves by making a number of errors and they struggled to gain control of proceedings. Mistakes were prevalent from the Sharks, despite them making several incursions, and that allowed the Tigers defence to remain unbreached.

That was until Beaumont charged into the heart of the opposition rearguard and sent them into reverse. Joe Ford was forced to infringe as a result of the surge but it did not halt the home side, who touched down via Evans.

Ford was also yellow carded due to his cynical play and the Sharks benefited minutes later when a sweeping move ended in Solomona powering over for a five-point advantage at the break.

The second period started in similar fashion as the first, with knock-ons aplenty, but it soon came to life.

Sale youngster Arron Reed provided the spark, sprinting clear after a well-worked set-piece move, before the wing was hauled down just short. Sale kept their patience this time and were rewarded as Morozov crossed the whitewash from close range.

Diamond's charges were now in command and Leicester were under duress. They did manage to stop another attack from the Greater Manchester outfit but Kalamafoni soon got frustrated at the home team's pressure at the breakdown and lashed out at Beaumont, leading to a red card.

With the Tigers down to 14 men, the hosts pounced and, after a dominant scrum, number eight Beaumont touched down.

That sealed the bonus point and the win, despite De Klerk being sin-binned for taking Olowofela out in the air.

Leicester were struggling to create opportunities, however, and once the Sharks scrum-half returned he scampered over the line for their fifth score.

Sale were not done there, though, and ended the game in ideal fashion when a scrum sent the Tigers backwards and referee Matthew Carley duly awarded a penalty try.
