West Ham United confirm the arrival of striker Simone Zaza on an initial season-long loan, which they have the option to make permanent for a combined fee of £25m.

Italy international striker Simone Zaza has joined West Ham United from Juventus on a season-long loan.

The initial loan deal will set the Hammers back £5m, while a permanent move could go through for a further £20m should Zaza make a pre-agreed number of appearances.

United boss Slaven Bilic has been desperate to add some proven firepower to his attacking ranks this summer, particularly following the loss of Andy Carroll to another injury layoff recently.

Zaza becomes the Hammers' 11th arrival of the summer and takes the club's spending past the £60m mark for their first season at the London Stadium.

The 25-year-old arrives in East London on the back of just one campaign at Juventus, where he scored eight goals in 24 appearances to earn a place in Italy's Euro 2016 squad.

Speaking to his new side's official website, Zaza said: "I want to thank everyone for welcoming me including the fans and everyone at the Club. I wanted to start a new experience and I feel this is the right choice for me.

"I have been fortunate enough to have already played at the new Stadium with a different shirt. It is a beautiful stadium and I felt the warmth of the fans and this was a big reason why I wanted to join the club.

"I want to become a better player and I know I can do that at West Ham. Unfortunately we could not qualify for the Europa League, but I am hoping I can help the Club do that next season."

Zaza has been capped 14 times by Italy, the latest of which came from the bench this summer when being introduced late on in the knockout-round defeat to Germany, only to blast his penalty high over the bar in the shootout.
