West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis is happy with his side's performance against Manchester City, despite falling to a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has said that he is "pleased" with his side's performance despite their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester City this evening.

The Baggies took an early lead at the Etihad Stadium through Stephane Sessegnon, but Sergio Aguero's penalty levelled things up before Samir Nasri sealed the victory in the second half.

The visitors felt as though they should have had a penalty when Eliaquim Mangala clumsily barged into Sandro inside the area, and Pulis pointed out that referee Michael Jones's failure to give the decision could have an impact on the Champions League race.

"We are pleased with the performance. You get the 40 points and everyone thinks we switch off, we just want to continue the form and intensity, we created chances," he told Sky Sports News.

"It was a definite penalty, it is the clubs fighting for the Champions League spots that it affects too.

"It is important for the league to put in performances whether you are safe or not, I won't have anything else. We played some good stuff through the pitch and caused them problems."

The Baggies are back in action again at home to Watford next weekend.
