Kieran Trippier admits that getting knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus is 'difficult to take'.

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kieran Trippier has admitted that losing to Juventus in the Champions League is 'difficult to take'.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were beaten 4-3 on aggregate in the last-16 stage of the competition.

The North London outfit were in a strong position after the first half as Son Heung-min's strike gave the team a one-goal advantage, but Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala netted within three minutes of one another in the second half to book a place in the quarter-finals.

"We had a lot of chances in the first half and put in a great performance. It's a difficult one to take," Trippier told BBC Radio 5 live.

"[Juventus] changed their formation [to 4-4-2] and they had a lot of the ball, we just need to settle down a little bit. The lads are gutted because of the way we started the game. It's a tough one to take.

"We wanted to come out fast in the second half, but they killed the tempo out of the game."

Tottenham's only realistic chance of silverware this season is winning the FA Cup.
