Real Madrid will be missing eight players through injury for Sunday's La Liga contest with Espanyol.

Real Madrid's injury problems have worsened ahead of Sunday's La Liga clash against Espanyol, with Marco Asensio, Isco and Mariano Diaz all left out of the squad for the match at RCDE Stadium.

Marcelo, Ferland Mendy, Dani Carvajal, Gareth Bale and Dani Ceballos had already been confirmed as absentees for their team's final match before the international break.

However, Asensio, Isco and Mariano were also absent from the 19-man squad that was named on Saturday.

Asensio will miss the contest with a gluteal problem, while Isco has a back issue, and Mariano suffered a knock during the team's training session on Friday.

Real Madrid will enter Sunday's contest off the back of a shock 2-1 home defeat to Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have impressed in the league this season, though, picking up 17 points from seven matches to sit top of the table.

Full Real Madrid squad: Thibaut Courtois, Andriy Lunin, Luis Lopez, Eder Militao, David Alaba, Jesus Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez, Miguel Gutierrez, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Casemiro, Federico Valverde, Lucas Vazquez, Eduardo Camavinga, Eden Hazard, Karim Benzema, Luka Jovic, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo
