Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson could face a touchline ban for the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic following an incident in the semi-final win over Rangers.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson could face a touchline ban for the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic.

The 42-year-old was ordered to the stands by referee Steven McLean in the second half of their 2-0 semi-final win against Rangers.

A heated exchange with Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha saw Robinson ordered from his technical area after tempers flared on the back of Ryan Bowman's collision with Fabio Cardoso.

Robinson will now face a hearing due to previous bans, including a three-match suspension received after being sent to the stand during a match against Aberdeen last year.

If the complaint against Robinson is upheld, he is likely will remain in the stand for the cup final on November 26 against Celtic with deputy Keith Lasley in the dugout.

Bowman escaped a ban for the elbow while Rangers defender Bruno Alves has been cited for an alleged swipe at Louis Moult, with the club appealing his two-match suspension.
