Daniel Sturridge admits that he is "grateful" to have been handed a fourth start of the campaign against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, as he aims to 'repay' his manager.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has targeted a string of first-team starts so that he can further 'repay' boss Jurgen Klopp after netting a key goal against Huddersfield Town.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring for the Reds in Saturday's league clash at Anfield, paving the way for his side to eventually cruise to all three points with a 3-0 win.

England international Sturridge is "grateful" to have been handed a fourth start of the campaign, admitting that the key to reaching his previous peak form is to start playing more regular football.

"It's about getting that rhythm, that flow. For myself, I feel like I'm best when I'm like that playing regularly," he told the club's official website.

"But the manager picks the team and I'll never cause any issues or problems in the camp because he's the boss, I have a lot of respect for him and for his decisions.

"When I go onto the pitch it's important for me to show what I can do. It doesn't matter how many minutes you get, you've got to put your best foot forward and show what you can do for the team. I'm grateful for his faith in me [on Saturday] and hopefully I've repaid him with the goal."

Sturridge has played a combined 414 minutes so far this campaign, having also featured seven times from the bench in the Premier League and Champions League.
