Alvaro Negredo will join Middlesbrough on an initial season-long loan deal after undergoing a medical at the Premier League outfit, a report claims.

Valencia forward Alvaro Negredo will reportedly finalise a season-long loan move to Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening after undergoing a medical at the club.

The 30-year-old, who failed to settle during his solitary season at Manchester City, will become Boro's sixth signing of the summer when he puts pen to paper.

Sky Sports News reports that Negredo will also have the option to sign for the recently-promoted Premier League outfit on a permanent deal next summer if his initial loan spell proves a success.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka has already moved to bring in Marten de Roon, Viktor Fischer, Victor Valdes and Gaston Ramirez during the off-season, as Boro prepare for their return to the top flight of English football.
