Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo reportedly opens talks with Middlesbrough ahead of a potential loan move to the Riverside Stadium.

Middlesbrough have reportedly made an approach to sign Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo on a season-long loan deal.

Negredo has spent the last two seasons in Spain but after scoring just 10 goals in La Liga, he has been made available by Los Che.

According to Sky Sports News, that development has alerted Middlesbrough, with head coach Aitor Karanka keen to push on with his transfer business this summer.

It is claimed that the transfer could be completed by the end of the week, providing that personal terms can be agreed and a medical can be passed.

Negredo has previously competed in the Premier League with Manchester City, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances.
