Manchester United reportedly reject an approach from Borussia Dortmund to re-sign Jadon Sancho on loan for the 2023-24 campaign.

Manchester United have reportedly turned down an approach from Borussia Dortmund to re-sign Jadon Sancho on loan for the 2023-24 season.

The England international was one of the hottest properties on the market in 2020 and 2021, having amassed 114 goal contributions in 137 games for BVB.

Man United eventually fended off interest from a number of their European rivals to sign Sancho in an €85m (£73.1m) deal, but he has struggled to adapt to life back in England.

The former Manchester City academy product has only provided 12 goals and six assists from 79 games for the Red Devils, and he spent a few months out of action due to a combination of physical and mental issues.

Sancho nevertheless made 41 appearances for Erik ten Hag's side in all tournaments last term, starting 21 Premier League games, including each of Man United's final four wins as they sealed a return to the Champions League with a third-placed finish.

However, having been unable to replicate the prolific form he demonstrated in Germany, Man United are apparently open to selling Sancho for the right price this summer.

The 23-year-old is still contracted to the Red Devils until 2026 with the option of an additional 12 months, though, meaning that they can afford to demand a large sum of money to let him depart.

According to the Daily Star, Dortmund recently contacted Man United to propose a loan deal for Sancho, but the 20-time English champions quickly rejected the German giants' approach.

Despite the fact that Ten Hag appears to have lost patience with Sancho, the Red Devils supposedly have no interest in letting the England international leave temporarily and will only entertain permanent offers of at least £45m.

Sancho would often feature on the left-hand side of the Man United attack last term when Marcus Rashford was deployed up front, but the latter will likely return to a wide role if the Red Devils bring in a new number nine this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho has also become an integral member of Ten Hag's setup, while Antony - who worked under the Dutchman at Ajax - is Man United's first choice on the right flank.

Tottenham Hotspur were understood to have been pondering a move for Sancho last month, but the Lilywhites instead swooped for James Maddison in a £40m deal with Leicester City.

Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion have since been credited with an interest in the attacker, and both sides could offer him European football for the 2023-24 season.

While Dortmund's bid to bring Sancho back to the Westfalenstadion ended in failure, Edin Terzic's side are believed to have reignited their interest in his fellow Man United attacker Anthony Elanga.

Hannibal Mejbri has also been tipped to make the switch to BVB, although the Tunisian will be given the chance to prove himself to Ten Hag in pre-season following a successful loan spell with Birmingham City.
