Three players who could leave Manchester United in January

Sports Mole identifies three players who could leave Manchester United during the January transfer window.

Manchester United are expected to be active during the January transfer window, with the club believed to be ready to bring in a new attacker following Cristiano Ronaldo's departure.

Ronaldo's contract with the Red Devils was terminated last month following his shock interview with Piers Morgan, and his exit has left the team light at centre-forward.

A new right-back could also be targeted, but it is also likely that there will be departures, with head coach Erik ten Hag keen to shift those who are not in his plans moving forward.

Here, Sports Mole identifies three players who could potentially be on their way out of the club during the winter transfer window.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is widely expected to leave Man United in January, with the 25-year-old not in Ten Hag's plans at the club.

The Englishman is currently with the squad in Spain for their mid-season training camp, and he played the opening 45 minutes of the friendly with Cadiz on Wednesday.

Wan-Bissaka has only played four minutes of competitive action for the Red Devils this season, though, with Diogo Dalot firmly the first-choice right-back at Old Trafford.

The former Crystal Palace youngster has spent time on the sidelines through injury, but he has also been left out of a number of matches when he was fit and available for selection.

A return to Palace, potentially on loan, is a strong possibility during the winter market.

Donny van de Beek

Ten Hag is seemingly determined to give Donny van de Beek every chance to carve out a successful career at Man United, but the 25-year-old is still struggling to make his mark.

The Dutchman started three games for the Red Devils ahead of the break for the World Cup against Real Sociedad and Aston Villa (twice), but he found it difficult to impress.

Van de Beek - linked with the likes of Valencia and Inter Milan - was then an unused substitute against Fulham in the league on November 13, and it is certainly possible that he could leave on loan during the January market.

Bruno Fernandes is ahead of him in the pecking order for the number 10 position, while Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Scott McTominay and Fred are ahead of him in central midfield.

There might become a time, potentially soon, that Man United decide to cut their losses on the talented Dutchman, who is in need of a change of scenery.

Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri was named in the Uruguay squad for the 2022 World Cup and represented his country on three occasions in the group stage of the competition, which included two starts.

However, the 20-year-old is still waiting to make his senior debut for Man United, with his nine appearances for the club coming at Under-21 level.

Pellistri has been a regular in the Red Devils squad this term, but he has not been brought on for first-team minutes despite Ten Hag having selection issues in the final third of the field.

The South American continues to be linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and a short-term loan exit would make sense for both parties.

However, a recent report claimed that the youngster, who arrived at the club from Penarol in October 2020, wants to leave the 20-time English champions on a permanent basis at the start of 2023.
