Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward reportedly decides not to axe manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before his own departure at the end of the year, despite a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Manchester United CEO Ed Woodward has reportedly made the decision not to sack manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before his own departure from the club at the end of the year.

With the Red Devils having endured a mixed start to the season, the Norweigan's position as boss has come under question, but the imminent changing of the hierarchy could provide him with more time.

According to The Mirror, the Old Trafford side are unlikely to bring about two major changes in a short space of time, with Woodward reportedly deciding against relieving Solskjaer before he leaves in two months.

The former Red Devils striker is approaching his third anniversary as manager, but he is yet to secure a piece of silverware, while they now sit seventh in the Premier League after a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.

After growing pressure from the fanbase, Woodward announced that he would step down as CEO at the end of the calendar year, with Richard Arnold reportedly set to take over.
