Cristiano Ronaldo supposedly tells his Manchester United teammates that they "need" to win the Premier League title this year.

Cristiano Ronaldo has supposedly told his Manchester United teammates that they need to win the Premier League title this season.

The 36-year-old has now touched down in Manchester after being granted early leave from international duty with Portugal and is undergoing a mandatory isolation period.

Ronaldo rejoins Man United at a time where they have taken seven points from a possible nine in the 2021-22 Premier League season, results which have left them third in the table at this early stage.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scooped three top-flight titles during his first spell at Old Trafford, and The Sun claims that he has informed his teammates of his desire to secure Premier League glory once again.

A source reportedly told the publication: "The players are so excited about the arrival of Ronaldo. They have been given this huge boost, and they feel very confident.

"The players and coaching staff now believe they have the best squad in the league and can win the Premier League this season. Ronaldo has also spoken to Bruno Fernandes and told him to tell the other players that they need to win it this year."

Ronaldo returns to England seeking to build on his tally of 84 goals from 196 Premier League matches, and his two headers against the Republic of Ireland in midweek saw him become the highest international scoring men's player of all time.
