Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho reveals his delight after watching his team record a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in Saturday's pre-season friendly.

Jose Mourinho has revealed that he was "very happy" with his first outing as Manchester United boss.

The Portuguese, who replaced Louis van Gaal this summer, oversaw a 2-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon as the Red Devils kicked off their pre-season with a comfortable win.

Mourinho has claimed that every one of his players "had a positive performance" against the Championship outfit.

"I am very happy. The result is obviously not the most important thing, but it is always important. I'm happy because there were things we tried in training around some principles of our play defensively and offensively and I could see them," Mourinho told MUTV.

"They were not in a perfect way of course because the conditions are not the best with only 10 days of training, accumulation of fatigue and no sharpness, so it takes times. But I could see things that showed they were starting to think in the way I think about football. That pleased me. Everybody played the match and everyone had a positive performance."

Next up for Man United is a pre-season clash with Borussia Dortmund in Shanghai on July 22.
