Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola accepts that the Premier League champions may lose Raheem Sterling should Barcelona come calling in January.

Pep Guardiola has said that he is "convinced" Barcelona will sign Raheem Sterling should they be interested in the Manchester City attacker.

Sterling recently admitted that he would consider a move away from the Etihad Stadium next year due to a lack of playing time this season.

Barca have since been credited with an interest in the England international, who they are reportedly eager to snap up in January on an initial loan deal.

Guardiola is unsure how true that speculation is, but the Catalan coach has no doubt Barca will get their way if they follow through with any initial interest.

"Honestly I have no idea. I don't know anything. Not that I would tell you anyway," he told reporters on Monday after attending Xavi's unveiling as Barca's new head coach.

"If Barcelona are interested in any of our players, I am convinced that they can get them. Barca continues to be an attractive club, more than attractive.

"The city, the club, the history and this for the trainers, for the players always seduces a lot. If Barcelona interests one of our players, the will set up the machinery into operation - it is a liner.

"Barca can use their media to influence signings. That's the thing about Barcelona: they can do what they want, good or bad."

Sterling, who is into his seventh season with City since joining from Liverpool, has started six games in all competitions this season.
