How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Liverpool

Ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, Sports Mole looks at how Spurs could line up at Wembley.

The Premier League returns with a bang this weekend as Tottenham Hotspur host Liverpool in the opening match of gameweek five.

Originally scheduled to be Tottenham's first match at their new stadium, the game will instead take place at Wembley, where Liverpool were swept aside in the corresponding fixture last season.

The Reds have made a perfect start to the new campaign, though, while Spurs go into the match having seen their own 100% record ended by Watford in their final outing before the international break.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Mauricio Pochettino could set his side up for Saturday's showdown between two top-four hopefuls.

Possible TOT XI vs. LIV
Out: Moussa Sissoko, Dele Alli (both hamstring), Juan Foyth, Hugo Lloris (both thigh), Vincent Janssen (foot)
Doubtful: Erik Lamela (hamstring)

Pochettino has confirmed that both Lloris and Alli will miss Saturday's match through injury, forcing at least one change to the team which lined up against Watford.

Lloris remains sidelined with a thigh injury and will not be stripped of the captaincy following his drink-driving charge, while Alli is expected to miss the next two games with a hamstring problem he picked up on international duty.

Pochettino is, however, able to welcome Son Heung-min back into the fold after he helped South Korea to Asian Games glory, and Alli's injury could force him to throw the attacker straight back into the starting lineup.

Should that be the case then Lucas Moura - Tottenham's leading scorer in the league this season - could drop a little deeper alongside Christian Eriksen, with Harry Kane joining Son up front despite the debate surrounding whether he needs a rest.

Aside from that, Pochettino could name an unchanged team to the one which started against Watford, with Michel Vorm continuing to deputise for Lloris and a back three once again preferred to a back four.

The likes of Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Serge Aurier will all be hopeful of pushing for a starting role and could be in line to feature should Pochettino look to switch things up.
