Joe Lewis: No need to panic despite slow start

The Dons have finished second in the previous four seasons.

Aberdeen keeper Joe Lewis insists there is no panic at Pittodrie despite the Dons dropping nine points adrift of early pace setters Hearts.

Derek McInnes' men have been slow out of the blocks with just one win from of their opening six games.

Their hopes of challenging at the top end of the table may be dented but Lewis says his side are not fretting just yet.

And he believes victory against Motherwell at home on Saturday could spark the Reds' resurgence.

Lewis told RedTV: "It's early in the season but there's no panicking yet.

"We want to get some points on Saturday and get moving up the table.

"Obviously we'd like to win all our games but so far we've only had one defeat and even that was after going down to 10 men very early in the game against Kilmarnock.

"So there is nothing to panic about just yet. There is a long way to go and a lot of points to play for.

"Obviously you don't want to play catch-up so we'll look to get a big three points against a difficult Motherwell team."

Stephen Robinson's Well have had difficulties of their own this term having collected just four points so far.

But Lewis reckons the Fir Park battlers do not get the credit they deserve.

He said: "They are probably under-rated in terms of the quality they have got – but not by ourselves.

"We know they can take that physical, direct route but they also have the quality to play too.

"If the physical side of it comes into play, we'll make sure we're ready for that but we're certainly not going to bracket them as a one-dimensional team.

"There is a lot more to them than that."
