Davies: 'Spurs must go back to basics'

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ben Davies urges his side to "get back to basics" after they fell to a third successive defeat for the first time under Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Ben Davies has insisted that the only way to get through his side's current losing streak is to "work hard" and "go back to basics".

Spurs have lost three consecutive games for the first time under manager Mauricio Pochettino, most recently letting a one-goal lead slip in the final eight minutes of their opening Champions League tie against Inter Milan at San Siro.

Davies admitted that the nature of the defeat was "frustrating", but urged his teammates to work even harder on the training ground in order to arrest their recent slump.

"It's just about working hard. We have to go back to the training pitch, look at what we could have done better, and try to improve for next game," Davies told reporters.

"It's a tough one. We obviously recognise that's where the majority of goals are coming from. That's frustrating. It's difficult to put our fingers on it. We have to go back to basics and work on that."

Tottenham's next match sees them take on Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.
