A scouser born and bred who came through the ranks at Liverpool, Steve McManaman broke into the first team in 1990 having been groomed as a long-term successor to John Barnes.
It didn't take long for the winger to leave his mark at Anfield, with his mazy dribbling and sheer pace making him almost unstoppable on his day.
Roy Evans often deployed McManaman in a free role, which made him even harder to combat as he continually switched positions from right to left and formed a fearsome partnership with Robbie Fowler in the early Premier League years.
The England international left Liverpool in acrimonious circumstances in 1999, joining Real Madrid in one of the most high-profile Bosman transfers ever, but he had done enough to establish himself as a legend at Anfield before becoming a Galactico.
In all, McManaman scored 66 goals in 364 appearances for Liverpool - including 41 in 240 Premier League games - but his only silverware before moving to Spain came in the form of the 1992 FA Cup and 1995 League Cup.
