A report claims that Riyad Mahrez is unhappy that Leicester City are refusing to sanction his transfer to Arsenal, having essentially been priced out of a move.

Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has reportedly made it known that he is unhappy with the club's decision to play hardball with Arsenal regarding a summer move.

The Algeria international intends to leave the King Power Stadium before the end of the transfer window, a year on from playing a starring role in the Foxes' famous Premier League title triumph.

Arsenal have shown a strong rumoured interest in recruiting the 26-year-old but were put off by Leicester's supposed £50m valuation, instead turning their focus to AS Monaco ace Thomas Lemar for a similar price.

According to The Mirror this has left Mahrez unhappy as he was promised that he could move on this summer, with the ex-Le Havre man fearing that he will now be priced out of a move as no offers have yet been made.

Mahrez, who managed six goals and three assists in the top flight last season, has three years left to run on the £100,000-a-week deal that he penned last year.

Monaco's French midfielder Thomas Lemar (L) vies with Rennes' French defender Ludovic Baal (R) during the French L1 football match Monaco (ASM) vs Rennes (SRFC) on October 4, 2015 at the Louis II Stadium in Monaco.
