Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says that "it does not matter" who his side take on in the semi-finals of the Champions League as they are confident of facing anyone.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has backed Liverpool to "beat anyone" on current form after seeing off Manchester City over two legs in the quarter-finals.

The Reds followed up last week's 3-0 win on home soil with a 2-1 success at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night, seeing them join Roma, Bayern Munich and defending champions Real Madrid in the hat for the last four.

Liverpool are now seen as third favourites to triumph on the European stage for a sixth time, with Roma considered the rank outsiders despite beating Barcelona on away goals in the last round.

Speaking after his side's famous win, Oxlade-Chamberlain is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Whoever we get in the next round it doesn't matter. This is a massive confidence booster for us. To beat City twice is no easy feat.

"We did it twice in a week and we also did it at an earlier stage this season. It just shows to us that when we are at the right level we can beat anyone.

"People might say Roma is the preference but look what they did [knocking out Barcelona], they performed amazingly well. It doesn't matter who we get, we have to make sure we are ready for anyone and we can beat anyone."

The semi-final draw is scheduled to take place in Nyon, Switzerland at midday on Friday.
