Leeds United confirm that they have rejected Charlie Taylor's official transfer request.

Leeds United have announced that Charlie Taylor's transfer request has been rejected.

The 22-year-old officially informed the Championship club over the weekend that he wants to move elsewhere before the close of the summer window.

Newly-promoted Premier League club Burnley are leading the chase for the defender's signature, but manager Garry Monk and club owner Massimo Cellino have insisted that the player is not for sale.

A statement via the club's official website read: "Further to recent speculation regarding Charlie Taylor, the club can confirm that a transfer request from Charlie was received over the weekend.

"Garry Monk and club president Massimo Cellino agreed at the start of the transfer window that Charlie would not be sold and, therefore, the transfer request has been formally rejected.

"The club has every confidence that Charlie will continue to conduct himself properly and play his part this season as the club pushes towards the top of the Championship. The club will not make any further statement on this matter."

Taylor made his first-team debut in 2011 and has gone on to make 72 appearances for Leeds.
