Result: Marco Reus limps off as late Germany rally ensures comfortable win over Armenia

Marco Reus limps off in the first half of Germany's 6-1 win over Armenia in Mainz.

Marco Reus limped off just before half time in Germany's 6-1 win over Armenia in their final warm-up game before the World Cup.

Andre Schurrle was the home side's main threat in the first half, but the Chelsea winger nodded wide from close range when unmarked in the ninth minute.

Reus raced onto Thomas Muller's through-ball shortly after, and although Roman Berezovsky got a hand to his shot, the ball rolled towards goal before a recovering defender raced back to hook it off the line.

Toni Kroos and Jerome Boateng also went close for Germany in the first half, but just 60 seconds before the half-time whistle, Reus's ankle buckled underneath him. Following a lengthy delay, the Borussia Dortmund forward was helped off the pitch, but the tears from the 25-year-old suggested that his participation at the World Cup may be in jeopardy.

Just seven minutes after the break, Schurrle broke the deadlock in the Coface Arena with a neat flick off his heel from a low Lukas Podolski cross.

Mesut Ozil, who was omitted from the starting lineup by Joachim Low, almost fired Germany 2-0 ahead, only for his effort to rebound off the post.

The missed opportunity gave Armenia the chance to draw level from the spot in the 69th minute when Kevin Grosskreutz felled Gevorg Ghazaryan, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan made no mistake from the spot.

However, the Armenians were level for just two minutes, as Podolski finished off a fine move with a precise finish from a tight angle.

Podolski's strike was the first of a late flurry from the home side, as further goals from Benedikt Howedes, Miroslav Klose and a brace from Mario Goetze ensured that Germany signed off for Brazil in style in front of their own fans.
