France centre-back Samuel Umtiti says that beating Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 2016 was credit to the teamwork of the host nation.

Samuel Umtiti has said that France's defence have been inspired to "go to war" due to the efforts of those ahead of them.

Didier Deschamps's side booked their spot in the final of Euro 2016 with a 2-0 win over Germany on Thursday and Umtiti was once again in the team after keeping Adil Rami out of the back four.

The new Barcelona defender has hailed the performance of France's midfield and attack, claiming that victory over the world champions was a team effort.

"We expected not to have the ball. We were prepared for it. We knew that technically they are very strong. We had to be very good defensively. That's what we did and it paid off. When we see the efforts of the wingers and the midfield, we say we can go to war with them," Umtiti told L'Equipe.

"For me, this is exceptional. To play and win against such a team, without conceding a goal, it's a great satisfaction."

France will meet Portugal in the final of Euro 2016 on Sunday night.
