Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Chelsea could line up for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid.

Chelsea will hope to welcome Christian Pulisic back to the fold for Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg with Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge.

The USA international did not take part against Brentford at the weekend following the break but is expected to return to fitness in time to take part in midweek.

Pulisic being available would leave Ben Chilwell occupying a table in the treatment room, while Callum Hudson-Odoi's Achilles and back problems could also render him unavailable.

With Brentford breaching Chelsea's four-man defence four times at the weekend, Thomas Tuchel could revert to a back three of Thiago Silva, Cesar Azpilicueta and Antonio Rudiger this week.

The Blues boss is free to do so having welcomed Reece James back to fitness, with the Englishman seemingly set to occupy his right-wing back role as Marcos Alonso continues on the opposite side.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic were both named among the substitutes at the weekend but have strong chances of displacing Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N'Golo Kante - the former of whom is one booking away from a European ban.

Pulisic is sure to come into contention for a start over Timo Werner on Wednesday, but Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz will both hope to hold their places.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Ziyech, Mount; Havertz
