Birmingham City announce that Lazio midfielder Ravel Morrison has started training with the club.

Lazio midfielder Ravel Morrison has started training with Birmingham City.

Despite his early promise at Manchester United, Morrison has struggled in recent years and he ended the last campaign on an unsuccessful loan spell with Queens Park Rangers.

The 24-year-old has made just eight appearances in two years at current club Lazio, but it appears that he could return to England with Birmingham after he was allowed to take part in training.

Manager Harry Redknapp told the club's official website: "Ravel's come in and he's going to be training with us for a few days so we can have a look at him. That's it really."

It has been suggested that Morrison will be given the chance to impress in their upcoming friendly matches ahead of a potential loan deal.

Morrison scored three times in 30 appearances for the Championship outfit in all competitions during the 2012-13 campaign.
