Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp suggests that Lazio midfielder Ravel Morrison is lucky to be given a chance to impress at St Andrew's.

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that he is the "only mug" who would be willing to take a chance on Ravel Morrison.

Despite being tipped to have a bright future, the former Manchester United trainee has struggled in recent years although he still has 24 months remaining on his contract at Lazio, where he has made just four appearances.

On Monday, it was revealed that the midfielder is training with Birmingham ahead of a potential loan move, and Redknapp has encouraged the 24-year-old to not waste his opportunity.

Redknapp told talkSPORT: "He's such a talent. His ability is up there with the best there is around.

"I said to him yesterday: 'Ravel, listen, there is only one mug in this country that will take a chance on you now and that is me'".

Morrison spent the second half of last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, but he made just one start and four substitute outings in the Championship.
