Barcelona will reportedly release Jeremy Mathieu in the coming days, potentially giving him the opportunity to link up with Sporting Lisbon.

Defender Jeremy Mathieu has reportedly been informed that he is free to leave Barcelona this summer.

The Frenchman has spent the last three seasons at Camp Nou, with 91 appearances being made in all competitions during that period.

However, according to Goal.com, Barca are prepared to allow him to look for another club, despite a year still remaining on his current deal.

Injuries led to Mathieu falling down the pecking order last season, with just 13 starts being made in La Liga and the Champions League.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Sporting Lisbon were keen on signing him and that deal could now potentially be finalised before July.
