Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta ends Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of signing Lautaro Martinez after confirming that a new deal for the striker is imminent.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of a future move for Lautaro Martinez appear to be all but over following the latest contract update from Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta.

With the Serie A champions in financial turmoil during the most recent transfer window, both North London clubs were tipped to battle it out for Martinez's signature.

However, Romelu Lukaku's £97.5m move to Chelsea meant that Martinez's exit was not necessary, and the club have since been locked in talks with the striker over a new deal, with his current one due to expire in 2023.

Marotta expects Martinez to put pen to paper in the next two weeks, telling La Gazetta Dello Sport: "We are going to announce his extension within ten days, he is the future of Inter and we want to keep him at the club."

Martinez already boasts five goals from six Serie A games this season after netting 17 times en route to the Serie A crown last term, while Spurs and Arsenal will now be forced to look elsewhere in their search for new names up top.

The Gunners have supposedly identified Zenit St Petersburg's Sardar Azmoun as a potential target, while Tottenham have been linked with a shock swoop for Juventus' Alvaro Morata.
