Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that Lucas Perez is already meeting his expectations after he played a starring role in the club's 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest.
Perez scored two second-half goals and provided an assist for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's late fourth as the Gunners progressed in the EFL Cup, and Wenger was delighted to see the Spaniard make such an impact on his second start for the club since signing from Deportivo La Coruna.
The Frenchman told Sky Sports News: "He has shown what I expected from him that he works hard for the team, he can score goals but that he can be a team player, especially for our fourth goal when he played in Chamberlain. He played a big part in that.
"I'm very pleased with the effort that he put in and the quality he has shown."
Perez cost Arsenal a fee of £17.1m after scoring 18 times in La Liga last season.
