How Arsenal could line up against Newcastle United

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Saturday's trip to Newcastle United in the Premier League.

Arsenal are going in search of their first back-to-back away wins in the Premier League since May 2017 when they face Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday.

The Gunners held off a stubborn Cardiff City side in their last outing to claim a 3-2 victory, having previously suffered defeat by the same scoreline to Chelsea in their first away game under Unai Emery.

After building up some momentum with that win in South Wales a fortnight ago, Emery must now decide whether to stick or twist when his side travel to the North-East this weekend.

Ahead of the return of top-flight action, Sports Mole predicts how Arsenal will line up against the Magpies.

Possible ARS XI vs. NEW

Out: Sead Kolasinac, Laurent Koscielny, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Carl Jenkinson
Doubtful: Alex Iwobi

Emery paired Aubameyang and Lacazette together for the first time this season in the win against Cardiff - an inspired move as both men got on the scoresheet.

Aubameyang, fielded in a winder position than he is accustomed to, now has 11 Premier League goals since making his debut in February - only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah (15) can boast more in that time - while Lacazette has played a direct part in seven goals in his last five starts.

Changing that setup therefore seems unlikely, leaving just two other spots up for grabs in the final third. Alex Iwobi, back from the illness that ruled him out against Cardiff, will battle Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey for one of those coveted places.

Ozil and Ramsey were given the nod two weeks ago and that may remain the case at St James' Park, but it remains to be seen which of the two will get the chance to play through the middle.

Elsewhere, Lucas Torreira returned from international duty with a minor calf problem and may be made to wait a little while longer for his full debut, giving Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka a chance to strengthen then defensive-midfield partnership.
