Former French Open champion Michael Chang celebrates his 50th birthday, as we look back on the American's rapid rise to fame on the tennis courts during his teenage years.
Chang had only just celebrated turning 17 when he etched his name into the history books at the 1989 French Open - defeating Stefan Edberg after five sets in a gruelling final.
In doing so, Chang became the youngest ever male winner of a Grand Slam tournament, a record that still stands today, at 17 years and 109 days old - Boris Becker was 118 days older when he won Wimbledon in 1985.
Chang did not claim another Grand Slam title in his career but managed to reach the finals of the Australian Open and the US Open in 1996, and the American now helps to oversee the development of one of Japan's finest, Kei Nishikori.
