A back problem forces world number eight Belinda Bencic to withdraw from the French Open, which gets underway this Sunday.

Belinda Bencic has been forced to pull out of the upcoming French Open with a back injury.

The world number eight has struggled with the complaint for a number of weeks, which has forced her to withdraw from a host of tournaments.

Now, it has been confirmed that the 19-year-old will also be absent from Roland Garros.

It means that Bencic's fellow Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky will be seeded in the top eight, while American Lauren Davis has replaced her in the main draw.
