Robert Lewandowski mocks the Ballon d'Or awards after the Bayern Munich and Poland striker finished down in 16th in the voting.

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has mocked the Ballon d'Or awards on Twitter after he placed 16th in the voting.

The Poland international scored 42 goals for the Bundesliga champions last season in all competitions, and has netted 19 times in the current campaign.

In a tweet which has since been deleted, the 28-year-old expressed his disdain at finishing so low in the rankings with a number of smiley faces crying with laughter.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or for the fourth time, with Barcelona's Lionel Messi second and Antoine Griezmann of Atletico Madrid third in the voting.
