Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly under investigation by Spanish police after reading a pro-independence manifesto at a march in June.

El Nacional claims that Guardiola, who is a supporter of Catalonian independence from Spain, is one of the names expected to be investigated by authorities.

An unofficial referendum on Catalonian independence in October saw the autonomous region vote for independence, a result which caused controversy in Barcelona, after which the Camp Nou club were forced to play a match behind closed doors.

"The manifesto was read by Josep Guardiola and was done so to mobilise all the supporters of independence," an official statement on Guardiola's involvements in the march said.

Barcelona defeated Las Palmas 3-0 in the behind-closed-doors fixture.
