How are Wolverhampton Wanderers' January exits faring on loan?

With club action now on the back-burner until next month, Sports Mole takes a look at how players who left Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan in January are faring elsewhere.

When Julen Lopetegui was appointed as Wolverhampton Wanderers manager in November, it came with the expectation that he would make a wide array of changes to the first-team squad.

The Spaniard was successful in signing the majority of his priority targets, as well as keeping players that may have been sold or loaned out in the process.

However, that did not prevent the West Midlands outfit from ensuring that many of their fringe members and most promising academy graduates were not left out in the cold at Molineux.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at how the players who left Wolves on a temporary basis in January are faring at their respective homes for the remainder of the season.

Having failed to impress Lopetegui, Goncalo Guedes was allowed to re-join one of his former clubs in Benfica, and it has been a productive switch thus far.

The Portugal international has made five starts and three substitute outings, although he has not played since the end of February due to injury.

Fabio Silva had been expected to spend the season at Anderlecht before it was agreed that he could move to PSV Eindhoven, a step-up in his development.

The £35m signing has taken his opportunity with the Dutch giants, scoring four times in his five starts and six substitute outings, some of his time spent on the left flank rather than down the centre.

In the Championship, goalkeeper Matija Sarkic and Ki-Jana Hoever made the switch to Stoke City, but it has been mixed fortunes for the pair.

Sarkic had made seven starts for the Potters before suffering a season-ending injury, yet Hoever has gone from strength to strength as he bids to reignite his career.

The former Liverpool youngster, who failed to impress at PSV earlier in the campaign, has starred in 575 minutes of Championship football, scoring three times and establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Chem Campbell has also benefitted from being able to play regularly at Wycombe Wanderers, scoring twice during his 376 minutes in League One.

Jackson Smith has experienced less joy with Walsall, the young goalkeeper failing to make a single outing, but Joe Young has fared better with AFC Telford United in the National League North, conceding just 20 times in 16 starts.

In terms of international loans, Yerson Mosquera is making up for over 18 months of frustration at Molineux by starring for FC Cincinnati.

The Colombian defender has made four starts in a back three, his team remaining unbeaten in the MLS and keeping two clean sheets in the process.

However, Theo Corbeanu has endured a frustrating stint in 2.Bundesliga with Arminia Bielefeld, being restricted to just 78 minutes across five substitute appearances.
