Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to equal a 50-year streak when they play host to Everton in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to equal a 50-year streak when they square off against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Julen Lopetegui's side head into their final game of the season at Molineux having already secured their top-flight status for another 12 months.

Wolves occupy 13th position in the Premier League standings, and they can realistically finish as high as 11th spot or as low as 15th place.

The West Midlands outfit will welcome the Toffees to their home ground on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United last weekend.

However, while Wolves possess the third-worst away record in the Premier League, it is a different story at Molineux with nine wins coming from 18 outings.

More recently, Lopetegui has witnessed his players put together a run of four successive wins on familiar territory, starting with a victory over Chelsea on April 8.

That success has been backed up by further wins over Brentford, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, those results ultimately proving to be the difference between survival and relegation.

Should Wolves manage to overcome Everton this weekend, it will represent the first time since 1973 where they have posted five top-flight home victories in a row.

Furthermore, Wolves have not recorded five wins with clean sheets in the first tier of English football since December 1969, another record which is there to be equalled on Saturday.

From Everton's perspective, they are attempting to avoid defeats in consecutive league campaigns at Molineux for the first time since 1978-79.

Having thrashed Brighton & Hove Albion in their last away game, the Merseyside outfit are also bidding to register successive away wins in the Premier League for the first time since May 2021.
