Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly a leading candidate for the manager's job at Wolfsburg.

Wolfsburg are reportedly considering hiring Andre Villas-Boas as their next manager following the sacking of Dieter Hecking.

The German club are looking for a new leader following Monday's dismissal of Hecking, who guided the team to just one win in seven Bundesliga matches this season.

According to Bild, Villas-Boas, who previously managed Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, is the leading candidate for the job.

The 39-year-old has been out of work since ending a two-year spell in charge of Zenit St Petersburg in May, and reports have claimed that the Portuguese coach has been learning German ahead of a potential switch to the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg's Under-23 boss Valerien Ismael is currently in temporary charge of the team, who sit 14th in the league table.
