Former England international Stephen Warnock signs a one-year contract with promoted Wigan Athletic.

Wigan Athletic have secured the services of Stephen Warnock on a permanent contract.

The 34-year-old spent the final few weeks of last season on loan at the DW Stadium from Derby County.

He helped the Latics to gain promotion back to the Championship and has now agreed terms on a 12-month deal, which will come into force on July 1.

"I'm delighted to get my future sorted out and I'm really looking forward to the new season after promotion," Warnock told the club's official website.

"I really enjoyed my time on loan and we achieved something great, so I can't wait to be working with the gaffer and this group of players again.

"It's a great club to be at, so I'm very happy to stay here, especially after the success we've had recently."

Wigan are the ninth club that the two-capped England international has represented.
